Carvel Teams Up with MTA to Celebrate the MetroCard Farewell
This fall, Carvel is teaming up with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to honor one of New York City’s most iconic symbols, the MetroCard®, as it retires at the end of 2025. As the city transitions from swiping to tapping, Carvel is celebrating the end of an era with a limited-time lineup of MetroCard®-inspired treats as part of the MTA’s MetroCard Farewell campaign. Starting October 8, fans can enjoy a $2 MetroCard® Flying Saucer®, free MetroCard® Sprinkles with mention of the MetroCard ® and purchase of Scooped or Soft Serve ice cream, and custom cakes with edible MetroCard® and Cardvaark images (while supplies last);
With 233 Carvel shoppes participating across New York, New Jersey, and nearby Connecticut, this collaboration is a delicious nod to the past and an exciting tap toward the future. Whether you’re riding the subway or just craving The Original Soft Serve, Carvel invites you to celebrate the MetroCard’s legacy one scoop, sprinkle, and saucer at a time. You can’t ride the subway in New York without a MetroCard, and it’s not The Original Soft Serve without Carvel. In addition to Carvel, several other New York City favorites like Alidoro, Stretch Pizza, Gong Cha, and Zabar's, have teamed up with MTA to bid farewell to this New York City Classic.
